Job Details
Technical Project Manager (Automation, Compute LCM) with Developer background experience.
Job Description
Automation at an enterprise scale or focused projects. (Will need to be able to track multiple projects in parallel). Ensures timelines are being met, speaking with developers, understanding challenges, and able to speak to the applications / functionality (Functional Scrum master).
Cross-organizational collaboration to ensure automation is as easy as possible, while ensuring process parity. Managing the long-term lifecycle of the projects. Own the delivery of compute life-cycle automation initiatives from discovery and backlog shaping to release, audit, and adoption. Orchestrate cross-team work (ops, security, app owners) to replace ad-hoc scripts and manual spreadsheets with repeatable workflows, clear SLAs, and measurable outcomes.
Languages of development team: perl, oracle db, mysql
Key Responsibilities
Build and run the automation program backlog (Kanban/Scrum), aligning monthly patching, policy/software deployment, and documentation reduction goals.
Define MVPs and phased rollouts (pilot ? expand), manage risk/issue logs, change windows, and comms.
Translate business needs into well-scoped epics/stories with acceptance criteria and test gates (QA/UAT).
Stand up simple operating mechanisms: RACI, runbooks, change calendars, release notes, and definition of done. (Projects documented in OneNote)
Replace heavy email with structured workflows and status dashboards, drive adoption.
Coordinate integrations (e.g., CMDB/ITSM, code repo/CI/CD, secrets, patch tooling).
Track value: time saved, failure rate reduction, cycle-time for patches, audit readiness.
Must-Have Skills
Program & delivery management for infra/platform automation; strong backlog hygiene and facilitation.
Process design (swim lanes/value-stream mapping), change management, and stakeholder alignment.
Familiarity with ITSM (incident/change/problem), CABs, and audit/cyber controls.
Literacy in automation/IaC concepts (pipelines, artifacts, rollout/rollback, canaries), enough to challenge trade-offs.
Metrics orientation (DORA/lead time, change fail rate, MTTR; compliance %; manual-touch reduction).
Ability to work with remote and distributed teams.
Nice-to-Haves
ServiceNow (Change/CMDB/ITAM/Flow Designer), JIRA/Azure Boards, OneNote.
CFEngine (configuration management system) experience
Exposure to patch orchestration (SCCM/MECM, WSUS, Red Hat Satellite/Leapp, Landscape) and compliance frameworks (CIS/STIG).
Vendor and SOW management.
Oracle and MySQL DB experience Example 90-Day Success Criteria
Backlog and roadmap approved; pilots for patching flow and spreadsheet-to-system launched.
Replace at least one email-driven update chain with a workflow + dashboard.
Baseline metrics published; first monthly patch cycle exits with cleaner change records and fewer escalations.
