Our client, a fast-growing company in the landscaping and retail industry, is building out their first-ever enterprise data warehouse, and they're starting from scratch centralizing reporting and data management under a newly formed data office.
We’re seeking a hands-on Data Engineer who can own end-to-end ETL development using SSIS and SQL Server. This is a greenfield opportunity — ideal for someone who wants to help architect the foundations of enterprise data reporting, while working closely with a technically sharp, no-nonsense data leader. No legacy mess to clean up. Just clean builds, meaningful work, and strong execution.

We’re seeking a hands-on Data Engineer who can own end-to-end ETL development using SSIS and SQL Server. - Design and build SSIS packages for ETL and orchestration workflows
- Develop and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, views, and queries
- Build and maintain star schema structures to support Power BI and paginated reporting
- Collaborate with the Director of Data to implement best practices for data modeling and data warehouse design
- Extract and integrate data from a variety of systems, including APIs (REST and otherwise), POS, HRIS, GPS, and financial platforms
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and Agile ceremonies via Jira or similar tools
- Maintain thorough documentation and clear data lineage for troubleshooting and knowledge transfer
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years of professional experience building ETL processes in SSIS
- Advanced SQL development: stored procs, views, T-SQL transformations
- Ability to work independently — self-starter mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of ETL best practices, data shaping, and normalization
- Familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts (surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions)
- Experience working in SQL Server 2016 or later environments
- Familiarity with Jira (or similar Agile tools) and Git for version control
- Willingness to follow established design patterns (e.g. “every dimension table has a surrogate key and insert date”)
- Experience with POS or other retail systems (Xstore most preferred)
- Familiarity with Power BI (especially tabular models)
- Python for light scripting or automation
- Exposure to ZappySys connectors
- Understanding of data governance and PII modeling principles
- Strong sense of humor and culture fit for a fast-moving, irreverent team
