Job Title: Senior IT Project Manager
Location: Sacramento, CA (Onsite/Hybrid Local Candidates Only)
Certifications Required: PMP Certification (Project Management Institute)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale IT initiatives within a public sector environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects, excellent leadership skills, and demonstrated success in managing complex, cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead all phases of SDLC projects including planning, design, development, implementation, go-live, post-implementation stabilization, and project close-out.
* Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risks, issues, stakeholders, communications, and change control.
* Ensure adherence to established project management methodologies and deliverables.
* Coordinate with cross-functional technical and business teams to ensure project success.
* Conduct meetings, prepare technical and legislative documentation, and plan for system enhancements.
Minimum Qualifications:
* 12+ years of progressive project management experience, with 3+ years in a lead role on large or complex IT projects.
* 3+ years managing SDLC projects involving system development and integration.
* 3+ years leading cross-functional teams with diverse technical backgrounds.
* 2+ years managing IT projects within a state or government environment, including all SDLC phases.
* 3+ years of experience in technical analysis, report writing, and planning system enhancements.
* Bachelor s degree OR 12 years of qualifying experience in lieu of a degree.
* PMP Certification from PMI (required).
Preferred Qualifications:
* 7+ years of project management experience, with 4+ years in a leadership capacity.
* 5+ years of SDLC project experience across integrated systems.
* 4+ years of experience with team leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
* 3+ years working on public sector/state-level IT projects.
* 4+ years in technical research, documentation, and system planning.
* Master s or Doctorate Degree from a recognized institution (preferred).
