Job Details

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Building Automation Controls Programmer to join our team in Akron, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, configuring, and supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure efficient operation and seamless integration within commercial and industrial environments.

The ideal candidate will have experience writing and testing control logic, developing sequence of operations (SOO), and collaborating with engineers, technicians, and system users to deliver high-performance BAS solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and modify control programs for Building Automation Systems using Reliable Controls, Workbench, and Vykon platforms.
  • Create and test control logic scripts to ensure accurate and efficient functionality of BAS across multiple applications.
  • Design, configure, install, and commission building automation software and hardware components.
  • Develop and document a clear Sequence of Operations (SOO) for each project, tailored to meet the client's HVAC and building system needs.
  • Prepare written schematics, flow charts, and supporting documentation for use by field service technicians and installers.
  • Collaborate with project managers, system designers, and end users to define control strategies and ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Conduct system performance testing and make programming adjustments to optimize energy use and occupant comfort.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for installed systems, including remote diagnostics when necessary.
  • Maintain organized records of code revisions, as-builts, and commissioning documentation.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience programming Building Automation Systems (BAS), preferably using Reliable Controls, Workbench, Vykon, or Tridium Niagara.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control theory.
  • Experience with developing and interpreting Sequences of Operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control system drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to local job sites as needed.

  • Tridium Niagara certification (N4 or AX)
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols
  • Previous field commissioning or technician experience
  • Experience in energy management and analytics
