About the State Auditor's Office IT Department

The Information Technology (IT) provides a full range of information system resources for the Office of the State Auditor and its four-branch offices. The division develops and maintains a variety of integrated automated business systems and solutions that collect data, maintain databases, and provide the reporting and analysis facilities to support the needs of the Office of the State Auditor and its branches. Additionally, the IT division provides application development consulting services and technical assistance to the Office of the State Auditor and related users group organizations in the selection of auditing communications equipment, network design, and outside consultant services and coordinates the implementation of specific special projects to support the management needs of the Office of the State Auditor consistent with the mission, goals, and objectives established by the Office of the State Auditor.

Position Overview

The primary responsibility is to maintain the organization's on-premises cloud infrastructure. This role involves maintaining cloud environments and on-prem servers while ensuring their optimal performance, security, and compliance. The System Administrator collaborates with IT teams to develop and implement cloud strategies, deploys and troubleshoot services, and provides technical support to end users. Additionally, they monitor resource utilization, patching servers, and stay updated with advancements in technologies to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cloud and on-prem infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with implementing security measures and monitoring access to protect data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Set up and maintain cloud servers, application services, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Monitor and manage the efficient use of cloud resources, such as CPU, memory, and storage.
  • Identify and mitigate potential threats, system vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain acceptable configurations and identify deviations.
  • Manage other special divisional projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Experience managing virtual machines including vulnerability and patch management.
  • Provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks. intrusions anomalous activities, and misuse activities.

Qualifications

Associate degree in computer science or an IT-related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field related to the position s role; or

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3-5 years of experience in the information technology field related to the position s role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
