Job Title: User Experience Design Specialist

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Work Model: Telecommuting permitted.

Purpose and Objective:

SAP Labs, LLC seeks a User Experience Design Specialist at our Palo Alto, CA location to provide product requirement engineering, product design, and development support to product development teams, including the analysis and investigation of applications/systems, graphics, web, multimedia, voice response, and conversational UI.

Expectations and Tasks:

Responsible for User Interface (UI) design delivery outcomes for mobile applications. Conduct user research, support collection of user data, analyze gathered data, and write research reports (e.g. semi-structured interview, survey). Support conversion of user data into task flows and basic use cases for a given product area (e.g. FIN, MFG, HCM). Support usability studies that test UI standard building blocks and pattern concepts independent of specific product domains. Prepare, present, and communicate research to stakeholders. Develop and design UI proposals with UX tools to solve UI issues. Create and validate use cases in a given domain area. Align with developers on the technical feasibility of design concepts, and produce specifications describing desired user interface outcomes and technical requirements for product development. Design unique user & interaction flows for the data presented. Create, evaluate, and modify UI Prototypes according to a given product area to support evolving software application development. Review the design concept and implementation and provide input on user experience design considerations.

Education and Occupational Experience:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or a related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:

Experience must involve two (2) years in the following:
  • Design native mobile products with focus on interaction and visual design using Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch;
  • Design of accessible mobile or web applications using WCAG guidelines;
  • Design for business-to-business products;
  • Create wireframes, information architecture(IA), and interactive prototypes;
  • Qualitative and quantitative UX research methods (field research and usability studies), data analysis, and prioritization of results (task analysis and persona);
  • Design principles, including Material Design or Apple Human Interface Guidelines;
  • Agile product development process; and
  • Design-led development process including user-centered design methods or Design Thinking.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $153,477 - $178,740. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $153,477 - $198,600. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
