Job Details
We're seeking a Storage Administrator for a contract-to-hire engagement with our client, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), based at 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA (hybrid - 3 days onsite). The MBTA is New England's largest public transit agency, operating subway, bus, commuter rail, and ferry services. You'll work with enterprise storage arrays, backup and recovery tools, and play a key role in ensuring the integrity and availability of critical production systems.
This role offers the chance to own MBTA's end-to-end storage lifecycle. From architecting and configuring SAN/NAS solutions to designing and optimizing backup/recovery workflows that safeguard operational data. You'll partner closely with infrastructure engineers and project teams, leverage modern storage platforms, and influence governance around data protection.
Contract Duration: 12 - 18 Months
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years administering enterprise SAN and NAS storage arrays.
Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and recovery processes.
Proven track record troubleshooting storage performance issues and backup failures
Proficiency monitoring storage and backup performance, resource utilization, and system logs to proactively resolve incidents
Solid Linux and Windows Server administration skills
Ability to perform general system administration duties for backup platforms and storage solutions
Strong communication skills and experience serving as a technical resource on cross-functional projects
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience with cloud-integrated storage.
Familiarity with storage replication and disaster-recovery architectures
Certifications
Exposure to scripting for automation
Background in a government or large-scale transportation environment

Architecting and configuring enterprise SAN/NAS storage arrays to meet growing capacity and performance requirements
Designing, implementing, and validating backup and recovery processes across production systems
Proactively monitoring storage and backup performance metrics, resource utilization, and logs
Troubleshooting storage and backup issues, driving timely resolutions to minimize downtime
Performing routine system administration tasks for backup servers and storage infrastructure
