Job Description
We're seeking a Storage Engineer with IPv6 expertise to administer, maintain, and support storage systems within IPv6-enabled network environments. This role focuses on ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of storage resources including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage systems. You'll manage IPv6 configurations and address complex issues related to both storage systems and IPv6 networks while working full-time on-site at a federal facility in Washington, DC.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise storage systems within IPv6-enabled network environments
• Set up and configure storage systems including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage
• Ensure optimal performance, security, and high availability of storage resources
• Monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks
• Implement and manage backup solutions ensuring data is regularly backed up
• Perform regular disaster recovery procedures and test recovery capabilities
• Configure storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 in addition to IPv4
• Manage IPv6 configurations including addressing, routing, and subnetting for storage networks
• Troubleshoot issues related to both storage systems and IPv6 network connectivity
• Optimize storage performance through tuning and capacity planning
• Maintain documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and network diagrams
• Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration
• Participate in storage infrastructure upgrades and migrations
• Support compliance with federal security standards and data protection requirements

Required Experience/Skills
• Minimum 5 years providing storage solutions engineering support
• Strong experience with storage management, administration, and maintenance of SAN and NAS systems
• Expertise ensuring high availability and optimal performance of storage infrastructure
• Proven ability to monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics
• Experience performing regular backups and implementing disaster recovery procedures
• Knowledge of storage system configuration including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage
• Experience with data backup and recovery solutions
• Ability to monitor storage performance and identify/resolve bottlenecks
• Experience configuring storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 networks
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities
• Must possess or obtain Public Trust clearance before start date
• Cannot begin assignment until clearance is granted

Nice-to-Haves
• Strong knowledge of IPv6 networking including addressing, routing, and subnetting
• IPv6 network design and troubleshooting background
• Experience with storage replication and data migration technologies
• Knowledge of storage protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, CIFS/SMB)
• Familiarity with storage vendors (EMC, NetApp, Dell, HPE, Pure Storage)
• Experience with cloud storage integration (AWS, Azure)
• Understanding of federal security standards and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of storage virtualization technologies
• Experience with storage automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python)
• Background in capacity planning and storage optimization

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant storage engineering experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Competitive hourly rate $38-42/hr based on experience
