Senior AWS Data Architect
Location: Newark, NJ
Duration: Full Time
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to design and implement scalable, high-performance data solutions that integrate data from SAP and Salesforce into AWS Redshift. This role will serve as the bridge between business requirements and technical implementation translating strategic data needs into detailed design documents and data models that enable analytics, reporting, and business insights.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to analyze and translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable data architecture designs.
- Design and document data ingestion pipelines from SAP and Salesforce into AWS Redshift, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, applying best practices in dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas).
- Architect and oversee data integration and transformation workflows using AWS Glue, Step Functions, and related AWS services.
- Implement and optimize data storage, partitioning, and indexing strategies in Redshift to support analytical workloads.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement data governance, cataloging, and lineage tracking using AWS DataZone.
- Define and enforce data architecture standards, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy and security best practices.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and identify opportunities for optimization within data pipelines and warehouse structures.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering roles, with strong exposure to cloud-based data warehousing.
- Proven expertise in dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas).
- Experience with data lake architectures and integration with Redshift (e.g., S3, Lake Formation).
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Redshift, AWS Glue, and AWS Step Functions.
- Experience designing data ingestion and ETL frameworks.
- Familiarity with AWS DataZone or equivalent tools for data lineage, governance, and cataloging.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of data quality, metadata management, and performance tuning.
- Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience/knowledge of SAP and Salesforce data sources is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional (or Associate)
- AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate
