Job Description - Data security Analyst

Job Location: Austin- Hybrid (Part time)

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist in analyzing data security incidents - Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to investigate and analyze potential security incidents using security tools such as CrowdStrike and others. Help identify root cause, impact, and recommend remediation actions.
  2. Support incident response efforts - Aid in the coordination and execution of incident response plans, including containment, evidence gathering, and forensic analysis.
  3. Conduct vulnerability assessments - Assist in performing regular assessments of critical systems and applications to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures.
  4. Monitor and analyze security events - Work with the team to review logs, alerts, and reports from security tools. Help detect potential threats, breaches, or unusual activity and support mitigation strategies.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders - Partner with internal teams and external vendors to gather security requirements, provide recommendations, and assist in implementing security controls.
  6. Documentation and reporting - Contribute to incident reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and security guidelines. Assist in generating periodic reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and risk assessments.
  7. Stay updated with emerging technologies and threats - Continuously expand knowledge of cybersecurity trends, tools, and methodologies to enhance team capabilities.



Candidate Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 years - Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor s or master s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 2 years - Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • 2 years - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 2 years - Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 2 years - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • 2 years - Ability to follow standard operating procedures and approval workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year - Strong interest in data security, incident response, and threat intelligence.
  • 1 year - Familiarity with tools such as CrowdStrike or similar cybersecurity platforms.
  • 1 year - Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • 1 year - Basic understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and security concepts.
