Job: Design Engineer- Security
Location: 100% remote from anywhere in the US
Duration: long-term contract position
Job Summary:
The Security Design Engineer is a critical role responsible for overseeing the successful execution of complex security projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of security systems and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and Technical Expertise:
-
Serve as a subject matter expert on security systems, including Access Control (ACS), Video Surveillance (SVS/CCTV), intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems.

Develop, review, and approve security design packages, ensuring all designs comply with industry standards, client requirements, and federal, state, and local codes (e.g., NFPA).

Utilize proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Revu to develop, review, and mark up design documentation.

Oversee the selection and procurement of appropriate equipment and materials to meet project specifications.

Provide technical and design support for project installations, working closely with Project Management and Installation teams.

Stakeholder Communication:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Attend and contribute to weekly stakeholder meetings to provide project updates.

Communicate design requirements, technical updates, and deadlines to ensure project momentum is maintained.

Quality Assurance & Leadership:

Implement quality control measures, including regular reviews and audits, to ensure project deliverables meet high standards.

Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team progress

Qualifications:
-
Required:
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

3+ years of experience in physical security system design, installation, or project management.

In-depth technical knowledge of access control, video/CCTV, and visitor management systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other computer-aided engineering software.

Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws, as well as fire and life safety codes.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

Experience with specific security systems, such as Ccure, Axis, or FLIR.
-
Knowledge of LEED and CPTED principles.

Experience in the construction and facility management industries.
