The ADI Power uModule Team is seeking a motivated and experienced Principal Applications Engineer in our Colorado Springs office. This role offers the chance to collaborate with top-tier engineers, contributing to cutting-edge research, development, and technical support for industry-leading power module products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical support and interface with marketing, sales/FAEs, and customers.

  • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape.

  • Define innovative products to expand addressable markets and drive sales growth.

  • Lead new product investigations, develop specifications, and research advanced technologies and tools.

  • Guide new product development from concept to release, ensuring successful revenue generation.

  • Drive technology envelopes efficiency, power density, and reliability of power solutions across industrial, datacenter, automotive, and other applications.

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.

  • Develop and refine design and simulation models, tools, and circuits.

  • Create technical documentation, presentations, tradeshow demos, and training materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSEE in power electronics with at least 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience supporting key customers throughout the entire product lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated technical and people leadership.

  • Hands-on expertise in designing, building, and testing switching-mode power supply circuits.

  • Strong background in analog circuits and power electronics, especially switching-mode power converters and topologies.

  • Proficiency in power converter modeling, control loop design, and performance optimization (static and dynamic).

  • Experience with simulation and design tools such as PSPICE, LTspice, Simplis, LTpowerCAD, MathCAD, OrCAD, and Ansys.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate in multidisciplinary environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, prototyping, and lab evaluation of switching-mode power supplies.

  • Familiarity with analog IC design and advanced power converter topologies.

  • Knowledge of firmware programming and I2C/PMbus communication protocols.

  • Proficiency with advanced simulation tools such as Ansys Maxwell, thermal analysis, and parasitic extraction tools.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $141,075 to $211,613.
