Job Details

Job Title: AWS (Amazon Web Services) Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location: Remote / Eagan, MN
Duration: Long Term (24 Months)

Description:
Chosen resource must demonstrate through actual work experience (not merely training):
Research, analyze, and evaluate existing and proposed business systems and procedures, develop requirements, and identify AWS cloud-centric system solutions in detailed measurable terms that achieve optimum performance and cost effectiveness.

Knowledge of:
Industry developments, business information systems and practices.
Development methods, procedures, standards, techniques.
Agile application life cycle, test-driven development, continuous integration of code.
Current cloud technologies particularly AWS Cloud.
Experience leading the design, development, and deployment of performant AWS cloud business software at scale or hands-on technology infrastructure (network, compute, storage, virtualization).
Ability to integrate AWS cloud services with other SaaS or on-premise technologies from leading vendors (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP, etc.).
Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements in regulated environments (SOX, PCI) for cloud applications, especially on AWS.
Ability to automate complex tasks (AWS) using scripting/coding skills or automation tools such as: Shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet.
Knowledge of enterprise-wide architecture, including:
Cloud services, servers and storage, virtualization, high availability, performance analysis, enterprise infrastructure monitoring for highly available, web-scale systems.
Works on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of a given program and performs duties independently.
Oversees direct reports or is responsible for all staff assigned to a specific job.
Chosen resource should also exhibit (through actual work experience):
Strong communication skills (oral and written) to:
Develop and present management briefings.
Provide guidance on technical issues.
Prepare and present recommendations and reports.

Proficiency in:
Generative AI and prompt engineering.
Design patterns for building scalable, maintainable applications.
Documenting code, models, technical solutions.
Continuous learning and adaptability in large IT organizations.
Explaining complex technical concepts to technical and executive stakeholders.
Troubleshooting in large-scale enterprise ecosystems.
CI/CD, containerization, and deployment strategies for Kafka components in production.
Querying/managing data in SQL and NoSQL databases.
Creating technical diagrams (Microsoft Visio, Draw.io).
Producing technical design and architecture documents (Microsoft Word).
Preparing presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint).|
Creating data visualizations (Excel, Power BI).


Tasks (examples neither exhaustive nor restrictive):
Advise and assist IT functional groups to define and implement solutions aligned with a Cloud-based Microservices / SOA architecture.
Create architecture deliverables describing cloud solutions (including BOM, technology/vendor components, cost estimates, design parameters).
Prepare solution descriptions, technical approaches, risk mitigation plans.
Lead cultural change for cloud adoption; contribute to Infrastructure Solution Roadmaps.
Define and communicate cloud policies, standards, design patterns, and reference architectures.
Identify training needs for cloud solution standards; develop and deliver training.
Interface with vendors to ensure adherence to standard architectures.
Provide technical direction for enterprise applications ensuring alignment with defined architecture and compliance with technology standards and best practices.
Research and analyze market trends in cloud technologies; make recommendations.
Apply architecture governance to solutions based on business and IT strategies.
Publish and update solution standards for cloud-hosted solutions.
Serve as IT SWAT team resource for critical problem-solving.

Certifications:
Expert knowledge of AWS cloud services.
Active AWS Cloud Associate or Professional certification required.
