Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Naval Architect to lead and support complex ship design projects in either Louisiana or Houston, TX. Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Naval Architect to lead and support complex ship design projects in either Louisiana or Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of expertise in naval architecture, systems integration, and marine engineering, with a strong foundation in both theoretical principles and practical application. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of hull, mechanical, electrical, and mission systems, and the ability to apply engineering knowledge to real-world challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and integration of ship hulls, mechanical, electrical, and mission systems.
- Apply advanced naval architecture principles to support design/build processes and resolve project-related issues.
- Conduct and interpret testing results, load calculations, and statistical analyses to inform design decisions.
- Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Participate in occasional site visits to shipyards or operational vessels for inspections and assessments.
- 10+ years of experience in ship design and marine systems integration.
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of ship systems including hull, mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering and design/build methodologies.
- Proficient in interpreting safety regulations, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong mathematical skills including geometry, trigonometry, and statistical analysis.
- Physically able to participate in field visits, including lifting up to 25 pounds and navigating shipboard environments.
- Experience with design development, arrangements, machinery selection, and production design for various vessel types (e.g., naval auxiliaries, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, tugs, barges).
- Proficiency in GHS, Maxsurf, or SHCP.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
