Job Title: AI/ML Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Position Overview:
We are looking for highly experienced and innovative AI/ML Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to lead critical AI/ML initiatives in a secure, mission-critical environment. The ideal candidates will bring deep hands-on experience in model development, advanced research, and deployment, with a focus on working in controlled and secured ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of AI/ML strategies and models across projects.
Act as a technical thought leader in AI/ML design, development, and deployment.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver customized AI/ML solutions.
Stay at the forefront of AI/ML advancements and apply state-of-the-art techniques to solve real-world challenges.
Mentor junior team members on AI/ML best practices and frameworks.
Develop, evaluate, and optimize models for performance, accuracy, and compliance with project standards.
Ensure that all AI-generated outputs provide traceable source citations.
Evaluate and integrate new AI/ML tools, frameworks, and platforms into project pipelines.
Special Project Requirements:
< class="" data-start="1603" data-end="1628">LLM Fine-Tuning:</>Fine-tune pre-trained open-source LLMs or use adapter-based tuning (e.g., LoRA) under limited compute conditions.
Design and deploy Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
Implement advanced Graph RAG techniques for multi-hop and complex data retrieval scenarios.
Deploy AI/ML applications in simulated air-gapped or private cloud environments.
Avoid exposure of inference APIs to public networks.
Enforce encrypted data handling and simulate secure access (e.g., biometric authentication, heartbeat monitoring).
Create RESTful APIs for access to model outputs and data pipelines.
Develop intuitive and functional user interfaces for showcasing AI/ML capabilities.
Apply efficiency strategies like model quantization, resource-optimized retrieval, and GPU-minimized processing.
Ensure every AI-generated response includes a reference to its original source for full traceability.
Required Technical Skills:
Advanced understanding of AI/ML principles and model lifecycle.
Hands-on expertise in Python (preferred), R, or Java.
Proven experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, and adapter-based fine-tuning (e.g., LoRA).
Strong knowledge of secure AI deployments and backend/API development.
Experience with cost-reduction strategies for high-efficiency AI solutions.
Familiarity with tools and libraries like Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, FAISS, Weaviate, etc., is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) or similar high-security environments.
Exposure to DevSecOps or MLOps practices.
Experience working in air-gapped, classified, or simulated secure environments.
