We have partnered with our client in their search for a Director of Engineering, Facilities Management. (Contract-To-Hire)
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight & Compliance: Manage day-to-day engineering/facilities management operations, preventive maintenance, and emergency systems (chillers, generators, HVAC, life-safety systems), ensuring full compliance with NFPA, Joint Commission, and NJDOH regulations.
Leadership & Financial Stewardship: Supervise a team of 20+ FTEs (engineers/architects, electricians, and general labor), plus outside contractors, while managing departmental budgets of $3M-$5M per site and total facility spend exceeding $10M.
Strategic Collaboration & Campus Stewardship: Partner with the Facility CEO and facilities leadership team on master planning, operational resilience, and infrastructure modernization, while maintaining large hospital spaces and supporting offsite facility needs.
Skills Required:
- Technical Expertise: Lead daily facilities operations, maintenance, and emergency systems with strong knowledge of HVAC, generators, plumbing, construction, and CAD, ensuring compliance with NFPA, Joint Commission, and NJDOH standards.
- Healthcare Experience: 5+ years in hospital facilities leadership with deep understanding of compliance, inspections, and emergency preparedness.
- Leadership: Skilled in managing union/non-union teams, resolving labor issues, and communicating effectively with executives in a hands-on role.
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (Strong Preference for Engineering/Architecture)
- 6-10+ Years of Professional Experience
