Overview
As a Senior Data Steward, you will represent the Legal Business Unit in executing data-related requirements to ensure alignment with data governance policies and standards. This role is responsible for identifying critical data, documenting metadata and data lineage, and managing data quality and issue resolution. You’ll collaborate with peers, business leaders, Data Councils, and other stakeholders to support data governance objectives. Senior Data Stewards may also mentor junior team members within the group.
Responsibilities

Critical Data Identification, Metadata, and Lineage – Identify critical data assets and elements for the Business Unit. Maintain an inventory of data assets and their attributes. Document metadata and data lineage in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Data Quality & Issue Management – Define relevant data quality dimensions, rules, and thresholds. Identify and manage data issues, escalating to the Business Data Leader when necessary. Support certification and attestation processes, and implement compensating controls to manage risk when needed.

Communication & Change Management – Serve as the primary contact for data-related questions and issues within the Business Unit. Represent the Business Unit in governance forums and committees. Maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including business and IT teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in Data Management, Financial Analysis, Technology, or a related field
OR - High school diploma/GED and 10+ years of relevant experience
Skills & Experience:
- Must have experience working with the Legal Business Unit; specially experience in Privacy, retention, and finance. Also, anything related to Consent Management.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data management principles
- Analytical mindset with the ability to manage projects and collaborate across teams
- Ability to support detailed analysis and contribute to decision-making
- Familiarity with banking operations, systems, or financial services
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a Data Steward
- Relevant certifications such as CDS, DAC, or CIMP
