We are seeking a talented individual to join our Data Solutions team at Mercer. This role will be based in Boston or Dublin. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The Investment Data Analyst will collaborate with the Investment Function to manage the data that is critical to the investment process, and envision a data strategy that supports the complexity of client solutions and enables the growth of the platform.
We will count on you to:
- Partner with the Investment Team on data management and strategy
- Develop knowledge of Investment Team workflows and critical data needs to understand and deliver their specific capabilities and requirements, working closely with platform providers and data and technology teams to implement tailored, fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Support the development and execution of investment data strategies by rolling out new platforms and solutions that adhere to data governance, management, and quality principles, ensuring they meet evolving needs.
- Deliver Operational Transformation & Effectiveness
- In partnership with the Investment Teams, support the development of Mercer's investment solutions capabilities, driving forward roadmap of impactful programs that transform operational practices.
- Prioritize and sequence activities within this roadmap in collaboration with business and technology colleagues, focusing on delivering immediate value while building long-term capabilities.
- Define relevant metrics and contribute to dashboards that monitor progress and ensure alignment with strategic goals. Identify and communicate risks and blockers in the program, with recommendations for resolution.
- Collaborate and Promote Best Practices
- Foster strong partnerships and collaboration with business, data, and technology partners to ensure comprehensive understanding of data needs and capabilities within the Investment Teams.
- Act as an ambassador for a data-driven culture, promoting the importance of data in decision-making, risk management and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with business and technology colleagues to identify opportunities for data and workflow innovation that advance the data strategy and position Mercer as a leader in the investment space.
What you need to have:
- 7+ years of experience in the Asset Management industry, with direct exposure to investment team workflow and varied asset classes including derivatives.
- Familiarity with data ecosystems in Asset and Wealth Management and/or OCIOs, such as risk analytics, portfolio exposures, and performance attribution.
- Results-oriented approach with a demonstrated ability to sympathize with the operational challenges of our investors and drive change.
- Experience with resourceful root cause analysis of data challenges, including data extraction and data interrogation, working across data domains as needed
- Strong communication skills to convey concepts and business outcomes effectively while knowing your audience.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a results-oriented focus.
- Enthusiasm for solving problems through data, technology and connecting the dots.

- Proven track record of collaborating with Investment Teams to develop innovative solutions that address evolving business needs.
- Deep knowledge of how data flows through the investment process, typical data challenges and how to solution & risk mitigate.
- Experience contributing to strategic visions and roadmaps for business change, ideally with a global or multi-regional scope.
- Demonstrated ability to triage data issues, working across stakeholders and third party providers, while exercising judgment around communication and escalation.
- Certifications such as CFA and CAIA.
- Experience with our strategic third party tools (CRD, FactSet, S&P EDM, ADP)
