Senior Snowflake Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Snowflake Engineer to join our team in Montreal, Quebec (CA-QC), Canada (CA).

Job Description:
As a Senior Cloud Data Warehouse Engineer, you will be a member of the C3 Data Warehouse team with a focus on building our next-gen data platform used for sourcing and storing data from different technology systems across the firm into a centralized data platform that empowers various reporting and analytics solutions for the Technology Risk functions within Brokerage.
In this role you will be primarily responsible for contributing to the development of our Cloud Data Warehouse utilizing Snowflake and Python-based tooling. You will also be responsible for the design and development of our data warehouse utilizing Snowflake capabilities such as data sharing, time travel, Snow Park, workload optimization across analytic and AI use-cases, and the ingestion and storage of structured and unstructured data.
You will also work on the integration of our Snowflake data warehouse with existing internal platforms for data quality, data cataloging, data discovery, incident logging, and metric generation. You will be working closely with data warehousing leads, data analysts, ETL developers, infrastructure engineers, and data analytics teams to facilitate the implementation of this data platform and data pipeline framework.

Key Responsibilities:
* To design, develop, and manage our Snowflake data warehouse.
* To contribute towards the establishment of best practices for the optimal and efficient usage of Snowflake with tooling like Airflow, DBT and Spark.
* To assist with the testing and deployment of our data pipeline framework utilizing standard testing frameworks and CI/CD tooling.
* To monitor the performance of queries and data loads and perform tuning as necessary.
* To provide assistance and guidance during the QA & UAT phases to quickly confirm the validity of potential issues and to determine the root cause and best resolution of verified issues.

Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required.
* At least 10 years of experience in data development and solutions in highly complex data environments with large data volumes.
* At least 7 years of SQL / PLSQL experience with the ability to write ad-hoc and complex queries to perform data analysis.
* At least 5 years of experience with developing data solutions on Snowflake.
* At least 3 years of data pipelines and data warehousing solutions using Python and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, etc.
* At least 3 years of experience developing solutions in a hybrid data environment (on-Prem and Cloud)
* Hands on experience with Python a must.
* Hands on experience with Airflow (or similar tools like Dagster) a must.
* Snowflake SnowPro Core a must
* Snowflake Snow

Minimum Skills Required:
* At least 10 years of experience in data development and solutions in highly complex data environments with large data volumes.
* At least 7 years of SQL / PLSQL experience with the ability to write ad-hoc and complex queries to perform data analysis.
* At least 5 years of experience with developing data solutions on Snowflake.
* At least 3 years of data pipelines and data warehousing solutions using Python and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, etc.

En tant qu'ingnieur senior en entrept de donnes cloud, vous ferez partie de l'quipe C3 Data Warehouse, avec pour mission de construire notre plateforme de donnes de nouvelle gnration. Cette plateforme sert collecter et stocker des donnes provenant de diffrents systmes technologiques travers l'entreprise, dans un entrept centralis qui facilite diverses solutions de reporting et d'analyse pour les fonctions de gestion des risques technologiques en courtage.

Dans ce rle, vous serez principalement responsable du dveloppement de notre entrept de donnes cloud utilisant Snowflake et des outils Clients sur Python. Vous concevrez et dvelopperez galement notre entrept de donnes en exploitant les capacits de Snowflake telles que le partage de donnes, la rcupration temporelle (time travel), Snowpark, l'optimisation des charges de travail pour les cas d'usage analytiques et d'IA, ainsi que l'ingestion et le stockage des donnes structures et non structures.

Vous intgrerez aussi notre entrept Snowflake avec les plateformes internes existantes pour la qualit des donnes, le catalogage, la dcouverte, la gestion des incidents et la gnration de mtriques. Vous collaborerez troitement avec les responsables d'entrept de donnes, les analystes, les dveloppeurs ETL, les ingnieurs d'infrastructure et les quipes d'analytique pour faciliter la mise en uvre de cette plateforme et du cadre de pipelines de donnes.

• Concevoir, dvelopper et grer notre entrept de donnes Snowflake.

• Contribuer l'tablissement des meilleures pratiques pour une utilisation optimale et efficace de Snowflake avec des outils comme Airflow, DBT et Spark.

• Assister aux phases de test et de dploiement des pipelines de donnes en utilisant des frameworks de test standard et des outils CI/CD.

• Surveiller les performances des requtes et des chargements de donnes et effectuer des optimisations si ncessaire.

• Fournir assistance et conseils pendant les phases QA & UAT pour confirmer rapidement la validit des problmes potentiels, en identifier la cause racine et proposer les meilleures solutions.

• Diplme universitaire en informatique, gnie logiciel, technologies de l'information ou domaine similaire requis.

• Minimum 10 ans d'exprience en dveloppement et solutions de donnes dans des environnements complexes avec de grands volumes.

• Au moins 7 ans d'exprience en SQL / PLSQL, capable de rdiger des requtes complexes et ad hoc pour l'analyse des donnes.

• Minimum 5 ans d'exprience dans le dveloppement de solutions sur Snowflake.

• Au moins 3 ans d'exprience avec des pipelines et entrepts de donnes utilisant Python et des bibliothques comme Pandas, NumPy, PySpark.

• Minimum 3 ans d'exprience en environnement hybride (sur site et cloud).

• Exprience pratique en Python indispensable.

• Exprience pratique avec Airflow (ou outils similaires comme Dagster) indispensable.

• Certification Snowflake SnowPro Core obligatoire.

• Certifications Snowflake SnowPro Advanced Architect et Advanced Data Engineer sont un plus.

• Exprience avec DBT est un plus.

• Exprience en optimisation des performances des requtes SQL, des jobs Spark et procdures stockes.

• Comprhension des modles de donnes E-R (conceptuel, logique et physique).

• Connaissance des concepts avancs d'entrept de donnes (tables factuelles sans faits, modles temporels et bi-temporels) est un plus.
