A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring a Construction Safety Manager.

Position Type: Fulltime Contract

Location: Gary, IN 46402

Duration: 12-16 Months

Job Description:

  • Employee s primary purpose is to develop and successfully implement an efficient and effective Safety and Industrial Hygiene Management System (SIHMS). In addition, this employee will be fully responsible for the development and delivery of an auditing process that routinely and systematically evaluates the health of the SIHMS system overall as well as the individual elements within the SIHMS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Years of Experience Required: 3-5 years.
  • Review, maintain and modify as necessary, the 5-year Safety & IH Strategic Plan to ensure key SIH deliverables are clearly defined to achieve the USS Safety and IH Vision and that it is also aligned with the core business drivers and the Carnegie Way efforts within the company.
  • Build, deliver, support, brand and maintain a Safety and Industrial Hygiene Management System (SIMS) for Client. SIMS must be aligned with existing management system structures or efforts in development within the company to ensure resources and capabilities are properly leveraged.
  • Develop a systematic SIMS review (audit) process that evaluates the capabilities of the individual elements of the management system, effective implementation of the system elements as a whole and provides for self-assessment methodologies within the operations. Audits must contain a robust and consistent scoring process. Audit Process must be aligned as applicable with other Audit Processes within the company to ensure resources and capabilities are properly leveraged.
  • Develop, support, and deliver SIMS and SIMS Auditing training throughout select areas and personnel of the organization to build capabilities that effectively support the key elements of the systems utilized to manage the SIH Process going forward.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the SIMS and SIMS Auditing Process to ensure trends are recognized and addressed on a timely basis to ensure its optimal efficiency and sustainable use.
  • Monitor and track SIMS audit findings and follow them to closure to ensure sustainable and timely completion of SIMS deficiencies.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma principles in the development of the SIMS and associated auditing processes that ensure alignment with other business functions and ongoing initiatives. Develop and deliver methods and communications to engrain Lean Six Sigma principles / concepts within the SIH Organization.
  • Build, deliver, recommend, and monitor employee engagement initiatives and activities that drive ownership of the Safety and Industrial Hygiene Process throughout the organization. Align engagement activities with other business drivers to ensure consistency and alignment with the Carnegie Way initiative.
  • Monitor, analyze and trend safety performance data within the company to identify potential revisions to or creation of management system elements that are needed to improve and change lagging indicator performance.
  • Provide support to the Corporate Safety and Industrial Hygiene Organization as requested and necessary to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services, including but not limited to, outage support, audit participation, data analysis and evaluation, presentation development / delivery, site visits and site visit requests on the behalf of senior leadership.

Required:

  • Implement and enforce safety policies in capital and construction projects
  • Collaborate with contractors to ensure compliance with safety guidelines
  • Develop and update safety protocols and procedures
  • Conduct OSHA 10 or 30-hour training sessions for workers
  • Maintain records and investigate incidents to prevent future occurrences
  • Provide regular safety updates, risk assessments, and compliance reports to the project manager
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements
  • Conduct field visits to construction sites for safety assessments
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and contractors
  • Lead routine inspections and training sessions to maintain workplace safety

Note: Employee will be working in a production environment and will need basic orientation, confined space training, fall protection training, and respiratory fit testing/training.

Pay Range*: $60 - $70 Per hour.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
