Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a Program Analyst to support a Medical R&D Program performing Brain Health Research. The position is located on-site with in Fort Detrick, MD, with some local and other travel for meetings.

Summary:

This role provides expert program management and scientific support to the Blast Injury Research Coordinating Office (BIRCO). The analyst will leverage their technical expertise to assist BIRCO in coordinating DoD-sponsored biomedical research focused on the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of blast-related injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise BIRCO on shaping research programs by identifying knowledge gaps and aligning efforts with DoD priorities.
  • Promote information sharing across operational, intelligence, medical, and materiel development communities.
  • Facilitate collaborative research among DoD labs, other federal agencies, academia, and industry to maximize resources and accelerate the delivery of blast injury solutions to Service members.
  • Conduct analyses of programmatic and technical data, prepare information products, and provide strategic recommendations to BIRCO leadership.
  • Track and report on DoD blast injury research efforts and assess the global state-of-science to inform future research directions.
  • Support Executive Agent responsibilities as outlined in DoD Directive 6025.21E, operating in a dynamic and high-visibility environment with minimal oversight.
  • Represent BIRCO in interagency and enterprise-wide forums to coordinate blast injury research efforts.

Qualifications:
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in a neuroscience-related discipline.
  • Proven experience in DoD science and technology management, research analysis, and executive-level communication.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Additional Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance (Interim Secret may be required to start).
