A project-based telecommunications company in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago is looking for an experienced Radio Field Technician. This organization is responsible for supporting emergency services and essential public communications infrastructure. The role will require Network troubleshooting skills, VHF, UHF and 6GHz experience, and ability to work with firewalls.
This role requires someone who can work autonomously and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. You'll be using your experience in the field to create infrastructure that has a significant effect on public safety. This organization takes pride on their direct problem solving methods, meaning there will be very little corporate fluff to get in the way of completing your work.

Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of RF Communications or Networking experience
- Experience setting up, configuring and managing firewalls
- Ability to install and troubleshoot radio systems in the field
- Experience with tools like spectrum analyzers, multimeters, etc.
- Ability to do physically manual work
- Background managing communications in public facilities
- GROLL or other relevant certifications
Tech Breakdown
- 50% Radio System Instillation (Dispatch Systems, Test Kits)
- 30% Systems Maintenance (Firewall, Security)
- 20% Network (Switches, Routing)
- Install and test VHF, UHF and 6GHz systems
- Perform field-based troubleshooting for radio systems
- Configure network firewalls and use remote access tools for diagnostics
- Physically travel to locations to address issues or perform instillations
- Document work via Sharepoint
