A top financial client in Plano, TX is currently seeking a Data Center Technician to join their team. This overnight role supports critical infrastructure operations, ensuring network and server uptime in a high-availability environment.
Responsibilities:
* Installing and maintaining network and server hardware (rack & stack, components, cabling)
* Performing hardware diagnostics, break/fix, and component replacements
* Supporting data center builds, refreshes, and deployment logistics
* Conducting structured cabling (Cat6, fiber) and terminations
* Monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalating incidents as needed
* Using DCIM tools to maintain asset and rack documentation
* Operating KVM, PDUs, and out-of-band management systems
* Ensuring compliance with all safety and data center operational standards
Qualifications:
* 3+ years of data center or IT infrastructure experience, 5+ years preferred
* High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical training preferred)
* Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
* Knowledge of LAN/WAN typologies and structured cabling
* Familiarity with AC/DC power systems and electrical standards
* Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
* Excellent communication and documentation skills
* Ability to work independently and under pressure
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits
Desired Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
* Cisco hardware experience or training
* Experience with DCIM tools (e.g., Nlyte), DSView, or similar platforms
* Familiarity with data center airflow and cooling concepts
* Proven ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a high-availability environment
