Role Name: Senior Data Modeler with DATaVault2.0 on Investment and Asset Management
Location: New York, NY Hybrid (3 days onsite at client's NY office)
Duration: 6+ Months
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Modeler with over 12 years of proven success in enterprise data modeling, architecture, and analytics. This role is essential to shaping robust and scalable data models that power analytical platforms and business insights. The ideal candidate must possess deep domain expertise in Investment/Asset Management and significant experience in designing data models using Data Vault 2.0 methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for complex, enterprise-scale data systems.
- Implement and optimize data models using Data Vault 2.0, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and auditability.
- Partner with data architects to design scalable, performant data structures that support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions.
Investment/Asset Management Domain
- Apply domain knowledge of investment/asset management to model data structures that reflect key industry-specific processes and regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and align data needs with financial product structures, transaction flows, and performance measurement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Translate business requirements into robust data models through close collaboration with business analysts, data engineers, and domain experts.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of data architecture with organizational goals.
Data Governance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards.
- Implement data quality checks, validation frameworks, and documentation for consistent data accuracy and trust.
Optimization & Performance
- Continuously optimize data models and queries to improve performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in cloud or on-premise environments.
Leadership & Best Practices
- Provide mentorship to junior data modelers and data analysts.
- Establish and promote data modeling standards, best practices, and modeling guidelines across teams.
Documentation & Innovation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including ERDs, metadata repositories, schema definitions, and data dictionaries.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and tools in data modeling and analytics to recommend enhancements and drive innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience & Domain Expertise:
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling and data architecture roles.
- Strong functional knowledge of investment/asset management industry processes and data.
Tools & Technologies:
- Proficiency in Data Vault 2.0 modeling methodology and experience implementing it in production environments.
- Hands-on with industry-standard data modeling tools such as Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or Microsoft Visio.
- Expertise in SQL and knowledge of NoSQL databases.
- Deep understanding of relational and dimensional modeling (star, snowflake, normalization/denormalization).
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery.
Other Key Skills:
- Solid grasp of ETL processes, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with data privacy, security protocols, and enterprise governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical thinking, business acumen, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and business needs.
