Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of managing California State Government projects, specifically in the areas of data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), and data analytics. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Sacramento, CA, ideal for a PM who understands the unique demands of state agency work and can deliver high-impact data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage data warehouse and BI/analytics projects for California state agencies.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and state agency leadership.

  • Create and manage project plans, timelines, deliverables, and budgets.

  • Oversee requirements gathering, solution design, data validation, and reporting deliverables.

  • Ensure compliance with California state project management standards and documentation protocols.

  • Mitigate risks and manage changes effectively while ensuring project success.

  • Drive communication across teams and ensure alignment with agency goals and data strategy.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager on California state government projects (mandatory).

  • Demonstrated experience in data warehousing, data analytics, and BI tool implementation.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello).

  • Deep understanding of state IT project lifecycles, compliance requirements, and stakeholder dynamics.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in hybrid or distributed environments.

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS.

  • Experience with ETL tools, data modeling, or cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).

  • PMP or PMI-ACP certification is a plus.

  • Prior experience with agencies such as CalSTRS, DMV, CDPH, CalPERS, etc.

Work Arrangement:
  • Hybrid role: Candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to Sacramento, CA.

  • Expected onsite presence 2 days/week as per project needs.
