Technical Project Manager - Robotics & Fulfillment Systems
Location: Onsite in the Detroit area preferred, but open to candidates based in Austin, Boston, or Seattle
Contract: 4-month W2
Pay Rate: $48-$55/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, 75%-100% travel required
Russell Tobin & Associates is supporting a global e-commerce leader known for its innovation in automation and robotics as they scale their fulfillment center operations. We re looking for a highly driven Project Manager with strong technical aptitude and a passion for working in the field. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead coordination and execution of complex technical projects across fulfillment and robotics systems.
- Set project timelines, assign responsibilities, and track key deliverables.
- Monitor, summarize, and report on project progress for upper-level stakeholders.
- Drive site-level issue resolution using technical drawings and CAD models (including 3D clash detection reports).
- Partner with cross-functional teams on site acceptance testing, performance monitoring, and operational readiness.
- Travel extensively to various fulfillment sites to provide onsite leadership (75%-100%).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related STEM field.
- 3+ years of experience working with mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
- 2+ years of experience reading technical drawings/CAD models to resolve site issues.
- 2+ years of experience in field-based environments (construction, manufacturing, or warehouse settings).
- 1+ year of hands-on robotics systems troubleshooting or similar complex systems testing.
- 1+ year using business intelligence/data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Valid U.S. driver s license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
- Experience in a role requiring 50%+ travel.
- Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma principles (certifications are a plus).
- History of using data-driven insights to drive decisions.
- Proactive, self-directed attitude with a bias for action.
