Job Description:
The ASU Enterprise Technology (ET) office seeks a Lead Orchestration Engineer to join our ET Orchestration Engineering team. As part of ASU Enterprise Technology's Engineering Core, this position will design, build, and maintain scalable orchestration systems that automate and optimize the deployment, configuration, and management of enterprise infrastructure and services across ASU's hybrid environments. The Lead Orchestration Engineer will play a key leadership role in modernizing ASU's automation and orchestration frameworks, driving infrastructure-as-code adoption, and integrating orchestration platforms with CI/CD pipelines. This position collaborates with development, operations, and security teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and secure infrastructure solutions that enable ASU's mission of innovation and student success.
As with all members of the Enterprise Technology team, this role carries core responsibilities, including fostering a sense of belonging and cultivating a culture that is relational, visionary, and empowering. With a strong emphasis on authenticity and compassion, this position is dedicated to embodying and advancing our culture.

Essential Duties:
- Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.

- Experience utilizing and/or managing enterprise-scale data orchestration and analytics services and tools (i.e., IBM Datastage, Alteryx, Prefect, Mulesoft, Kafka, AWS Glue, AWS Athena, AWS Redshift, AWS RDS, StreamSets, Splunk, Tableau, SSRS, Google BigQuery, Google Analytics, etc.)
- Experience with physical and cloud network concepts and principles (i.e., OSI model, TCP/UDP/ICMP, VRFs, VLANs, VPCs, Security Groups, routing, NLB/ALB/ELB, NGFW, WAF, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, RNAT/SNAT, Zero Trust, etc.)
- Experience with network services (i.e., NTP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP)
- Experience with secure secrets management using Hashicorp Vault and AWS Secrets Manager
Working Environment:
- Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
