Microsoft is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics/Warehouse Specialist to support operations at our Circular Center in Northlake, IL. This facility plays a critical role in Microsoft's sustainability and cloud infrastructure strategy by managing the lifecycle of data center hardware-from inbound receipt and inventory tracking to refurbishment, reuse, and outbound deployment.
As a Logistics/Warehouse Specialist, you will be responsible for the physical handling, tracking, and movement of IT assets, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with Microsoft's global standards. You'll work closely with data center technicians, asset managers, and sustainability teams to support the efficient flow of materials and contribute to the circular economy model.

As a Logistics/Warehouse Specialist, you will be responsible for the physical handling, tracking, and movement of IT assets, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with Microsoft's global standards. You'll work closely with data center technicians, asset managers, and sustainability teams to support the efficient flow of materials and contribute to the circular economy model.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Asset Management
- Receive, inspect, and log inbound shipments of servers, networking equipment, and components.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using Microsoft's internal asset tracking systems.
- Perform cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of physical inventory vs. system records.
- Tag, label, and organize hardware for refurbishment, reuse, or disposal.
Warehouse Operations
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move and stage hardware.
- Ensure proper storage of sensitive IT equipment in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
- Prepare outbound shipments, including packaging, documentation, and coordination with logistics providers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment.
Hardware Lifecycle Support
- Collaborate with data center teams to support hardware refreshes, decommissions, and deployments.
- Assist in the refurbishment and testing of reusable components (e.g., drives, memory, power supplies).
- Support secure data destruction and sanitization processes for old assets.
Compliance & Reporting
- Adhere to Microsoft's physical security protocols and access control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and sustainability regulations.
- Document and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or process deviations.
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Familiarity with IT hardware (servers, switches, storage devices)
- Experience with inventory management systems and barcode scanning tools
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and operate material handling equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
- Experience in a data center or technology-focused warehouse environment
- Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and sustainability practices
- Certifications such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Forklift Safety, or Lean Six Sigma
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, ServiceNow, or similar platforms
