RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce Inc. is seeking a full-time Power Conversion Development Engineer to support our enterprise technology client in Austin, TX.
Summary:
Our client is hiring a senior-level engineer to lead the end-to-end development of server power subsystems. This role offers the opportunity to drive industry-leading technology and collaborate with world-class experts in power device technology. Responsibilities span inception, implementation, and product field support. The Power Team seeks candidates with strong fundamentals in control theory, analog/digital design, magnetics, and optimized PCB layout. Independence and self-starting ability are key.
Responsibilities:
* Define requirements and develop power subsystem solutions for next-gen enterprise server systems
* Own circuit design and implementation of AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies (pluggable and embedded)
* Develop and execute verification plans to ensure functionality and quality
* Use SPICE and averaged model simulation tools (e.g., SIMPLIS)
* Work autonomously and deliver project phases on time and within budget
* Participate in continuous professional development and career progression sessions
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5-7 years of experience from concept to qualification
* 5+ years of experience in Power Design Development
* Proven experience in high-efficiency, high-reliability DC-DC and AC-DC power conversion
* Strong communication skills in cross-functional teams
* Experience with SPICE and averaged model simulation tools (e.g., SIMPLIS)
* Lab support experience and logic debug skills
* Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team-building skills
* Ability to identify issues, develop action plans, and adapt to changing requirements
Preferred:
* PhD in Power Electronics
* Experience with enterprise server systems development
* Basic software engineering (Perl, Bash, Shell scripts)
* Familiarity with I2C, PMBus, AVSBus, SPI protocols
* Statistical analysis skills (e.g., JMP)
* Background in signal and power integrity
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
