Junior Electrical/Hardware Engineer

Job Description

Torch is seeking qualified Electrical/Hardware Engineering professionals to support hardware design, software development and integration work for the Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) at Redstone Arsenal, AL. Initial tasking will be supporting multiple missile programs in a lab integrating operational hardware, software platforms and sub-systems into a larger test environment to support product development, assessment, and integration into the Army range testing and acquisition pipeline. A well-suited applicant will be a self-motivated individual capable of working independently and within a multi-disciplinary team with contractors and government employees. They must also possess good oral and written communication skills. Candidate will sit on site with the customer at AvMC on Redstone Arsenal.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform hardware design, some software development, and integration process in the lab to include workflow and assignment of duties.
  • Ensure hardware team compliance with product and lab best practices.
  • Hardware/Software Integration.
  • Support for Range Testing.
  • Support debugging issues with existing code bases.
  • Support the development of automated testing processes and supporting toolsets.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • B.S. or greater in Engineering or other technical discipline is required.
  • 2-5 years experience in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Software programming.
  • Previous experience in a Hardware-in-the-loop lab will be given preference.
  • Previous experience with Missile Platform and HW Integration is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with Altium and Vivado for board design is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Qualified candidates will have direct experience with the following:
  • Experience with Electronic Control Systems.
  • Broad Experience with Electronics and Digital Communication Buses (e.g. RS422, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Experience Designing Embedded Systems/Software including PCB and firmware.
  • Experience with Electrical/Electronics laboratory equipment and environment.
  • Product development experience and knowledge.
  • VHDL and/or Xilinx FPGA experience is a plus.
  • Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one of the following areas:
  • Hardware and Software Integration.
  • Hardware interface testing.
  • Hands-on in the hardware design process of new boards that facilitate range testing of weapon platforms.
  • Re-engineering, Test & Evaluation, or related experience with DoD weapon platforms is a plus.
