Role Overview

We are looking for a Power BI Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of our enterprise BI platform. In this role, you will bridge business strategy and technical architecture by building scalable, secure, and high-performance Power BI solutions. You will be a key player in data modeling, report delivery, data governance, and BI best practices, working closely with stakeholders across business and IT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end Power BI solutions: design data flows, semantic models, and BI infrastructure to support reporting and analytics.
  • Develop and optimize data models (e.g., star schema / snowflake), DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations to drive performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Lead the design and implementation of ETL/ELT processes, integrating data from multiple sources (cloud/on-prem) into the BI architecture.
  • Define and enforce governance, security, and data access strategies, including row-level security (RLS), workspace permissions, tenant settings, and capacity planning.
  • Administer the Power BI tenant: manage gateways, monitor usage, configure workspace structure, and enforce best practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior BI developers / analysts; set up standards, patterns, and documentation for Power BI development and deployment.
  • Conduct workshops and work with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, and validate BI deliverables.
  • Perform performance tuning on data models, reports, and refresh strategies to improve efficiency, load times, and resource usage.
  • Create a BI roadmap and technology strategy for Power BI adoption, aligning with broader data platform initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation: data lineage, model definitions, metadata, deployment pipelines, and architecture diagrams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 10 years in BI / data analytics, with significant Power BI design and architecture experience.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
    • DAX, Power Query / M
    • Data modeling (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas)
    • SQL (T-SQL, working with large relational databases)
    • ETL design & data integration
  • Security & Governance:
    • Row-Level Security, workspace-level security
    • Tenant-level governance (capacity, licensing, workspace structure)
  • Architecture & Strategy: Experience defining BI architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Tools / Platforms (Preferred): Experience with Azure ecosystem (Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Data Factory), SSAS, or other cloud data platforms.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication (technical + non-technical), stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, mentorship capability.
  • Methodology: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is a plus.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Power BI / Microsoft certifications (e.g., DA-100 / PL-300, Data Platform Architect) are a plus.
