Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our sustaining engineering team in Batesville, IN. In this long-term contract role, you will contribute to the design and development of medical devices, including hospital beds and related equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting supply chain optimization. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving essential healthcare products.
Responsibilities:
Implement design changes for mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and product assemblies using established product release processes.
Conduct design analysis and engineering releases for small to medium-sized projects or contribute to larger, complex initiatives.
Develop feasibility assessments, risk documentation, engineering requirements, and cost estimates to support project planning.
Utilize technical tools and concepts to address design challenges, collaborating with team members as needed.
Create and update labeling, documentation, and product specifications to meet compliance and quality standards.
Share expertise with team members and provide guidance to engineers with less experience in specialized areas.
Actively challenge processes and contribute innovative solutions to improve project outcomes and performance.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Communicate proactively about developments or issues that could impact project timelines or deliverables.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering roles with attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
Proficient problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in the medical device industry and familiarity with regulatory standards is preferred.
Knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and proficiency in using Solid Edge software.
Hands-on experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5-why, fishbone diagrams, Pareto charts, and fault trees.
