UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a Lead Medical Device Integration Analyst.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • 100% FTE - 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift - UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 - 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
  • Position requires participation in off-hours, on-call support rotation

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performing advanced, high-level programming in the development and implementation of Medical Device Integrations with Capsule SmartLinx and patient monitoring devices including Phillips, Spacelabs, and OBIX
  • Assigning resources to projects and enhancements
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained by the team to be able to support the system
  • Ensuring team is meeting performance targets by monitoring SDM tickets
  • Escalating issues when necessary to leadership
  • Implementing and supporting advanced level medical device integrations
  • Ensuring integrity of data and minimizing disruption to customers
  • Representing the team in ITS meetings including Project Assessment meetings, governance meetings, and change management meetings
  • Actively managing customer relationships by meeting with customers, analyzing their requests, and assigning appropriate resources to address their needs
  • Providing backup for DIS manager in cases of scheduling conflicts and absences
  • Leading advanced level projects and initiatives
  • Participating in team process improvements and personal development activities, including mentoring more junior staff
  • Supporting the direction and priorities of the Manager by coordinating and overseeing the operational activities of the Medical Device Integration team and system maintenance, and ensuring standard services are meeting appropriate targets
  • Prioritizing and distributing the workload throughout the team, managing the day-to-day workflow, and reporting to the manager the status of work assignments
  • Providing a point of escalation for operational and other service issues
  • Identifying and proposing service management and process improvements
  • Leading the efforts for Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery for the team
  • Actively managing customer relationships by meeting with customers, analyzing their requests, and assigning appropriate resources to address their needs
  • Providing advice, coaching, and mentorship to team on work techniques, best practices, and operational expertise
  • Serving as the manager's delegate to represent the team to customers, project managers, technical leadership, and organizational management

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Capsule Tech certification highly desired
  • Epic Bridges certification highly desired
  • 5+ years' experience of recent IT experience must include the below
  • Experience leading small technical teams
  • 1+ years of experience formally mentoring IT professionals
  • 4+ years of experience implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting medical device integration tools
  • Experience must include supporting Capsule Tech middleware - including Neurons and SmartLINX servers
  • 4+ years of experience integrating Medical Device Gateways, such as Philips, SpaceLabs, and Welch-Allyn, with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) like Epic
  • 4+ years providing EHR systems application maintenance/support and configuration as it relates to medical device data
  • Extensive experience with hospital/clinic workflows such as scheduling/Reg/ADT, Orders of ancillary systems, and patient care as it relates to a major EHR
  • Extensive experience with successful systems analysis and/or programming on mission-critical, clinical information systems
  • Experience working on medium to large sized clinical information system projects within a formal project management methodology
  • Demonstrated experience leading MDI activities and gathering requirements from leadership level staff
  • Experience mentoring and training team members in technical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of HL7 standard version 2.x, Philips MDIL, TCP/IP, and serial communications
