Sr. Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Technical Lead to drive innovation within our core payments portfolio. The ideal candidate is a seasoned full-stack Java developer with 10+ years of overall experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership capacity. This role requires deep expertise in modern architectural patterns-specifically Microservices, streaming architecture, and robust APIs-combined with an understanding of complex backend databases. If you have a proven track record in the payments industry, possess strong communication skills, and are dedicated to maintaining exceptional code quality and security, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our transaction processing capabilities. Longevity and a minimum of 2-3 years tenure per prior role are highly valued.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities As a Principal Technical Lead, you will be a critical contributor and mentor within our engineering team, focusing on the stability and evolution of our high-volume payments systems. Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Platform Maintenance & Incident Response: Work directly within the existing payments portfolio to promptly address production and customer-impacting issues, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability for financial transactions.
• Technical Guidance & Feature Development: Serve as the primary technical authority, providing expert guidance and solutions on the design and implementation of new, cutting-edge payment features and system enhancements.
• Code Quality & Security Assurance: Enforce and champion rigorous standards for code quality, security, and performance across all development activities.
• Architectural Strategy: Contribute to the strategic evolution of the payments platform, leveraging expertise in Microservices, streaming architectures, and APIs to build scalable and resilient solutions.
• Emerging Technology Integration: Explore and leverage advanced tools, including familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, to enhance developer efficiency and solution accuracy.
• Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor to mid-level and senior engineers, elevating the overall technical capability of the team.

Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in software development.

Technical Leadership: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a formal technical lead role, providing clear solutions, architecture guidance, and mentorship.

Industry Background: Direct, demonstrable experience working within the payments industry (e.g., card processing, financial clearing, acquiring, or issuing).

Core Technical Stack: Expert-level proficiency in full-stack Java development.

Architecture: Deep practical experience with Microservices, event-driven/streaming architecture, developing secure APIs, and managing backend databases.

Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Professional Stability: A background demonstrating at least 2-3 years tenure per position is preferred, indicating commitment and a steady career trajectory.

Preferred Skills & Certifications (Nice-to-Haves)

Professional certifications in Prompt Engineering, Microsoft Services, or Full-stack Java development.
