We are looking for AWS Data Migration Specialist for our client in Torrance, CA
Job Title: AWS Data Migration Specialist
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
Pay Range: $70hr - $75hr
- The AWS Data Migration Specialist will design and execute database migration strategies, configure and optimize AWS migration tools, validate data integrity, and support post-migration activities.
- This role involves collaboration with technical teams to ensure seamless and compliant migrations to cloud environments.
- Design and implement database migration strategies for on-premises and cloud environments.
- Perform pre-migration checks including constraints, indexes, and triggers
- Assess existing database environments such as SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Define cutover plans and rollback strategies.
- Configure and manage AWS DMS replication instances, endpoints, and tasks
- Perform schema conversion using AWS SCT for heterogeneous migrations
- Validate schema mappings and resolve incompatibilities.
- Apply required custom data transformations.
- Optimize migration performance and troubleshoot full load and CDC issues.
- Ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and compliance during migrations.
- Conduct post-migration data validation and reconciliation.
- Ensure security compliance including IAM roles, encryption, and SSL.
- Document migration processes for audit and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with DBAs, cloud architects, and application teams.
- Communicate migration progress and risks to stakeholders.
- Provide post-migration support and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and AWS SCT.
- Experience with Redshift, RDS, and Aurora.
- Strong SQL skills and scripting knowledge (Python, Bash).
- Experience with AWS CLI.
- Experience with relational databases including SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of homogeneous and heterogeneous migrations and CDC.
- Familiarity with AWS VPC, IAM, and security best practices.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (preferred).
- AWS Database Specialty certification (preferred).
- Large-scale database migration experience.
- Experience with ETL tools and data transformation processes.
- Exposure to DevOps and automation for migration workflows.
