The Senior Integration Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the integration, change, and merge of PACS, RIS, and associated imaging and clinical applications during a large-scale migration and consolidation program. This role requires deep technical expertise in healthcare integration platforms, interface management, and interoperability standards to ensure seamless connectivity and reliable workflows across multi-site healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and support of system interfaces for PACS, RIS, and EMR platforms during the migration, change, and merge processes.
- Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, and clinical teams to ensure seamless integration across all systems during consolidation initiatives.
- Implement and maintain HL7, DICOM, FHIR, and API-based integrations to support imaging workflows and downstream clinical applications.
- Support the change and merge of PACS archives, ensuring accurate data mapping, integrity, and accessibility post-migration.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical and imaging operations.
- Document integration workflows, system dependencies, and technical specifications for the merged environments.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare security and privacy standards (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2) throughout the integration lifecycle.
- Support data migration activities, including extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation of clinical data.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization for integration components to meet SLA and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders for integration testing, go-live readiness, and post-migration stabilization support.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building reusable integration frameworks, templates, and best practices.
Experience & Skills
- 8+ years of experience as an Integration Engineer or in a similar technical role, with at least 5 years in healthcare IT.
- Strong expertise in PACS and RIS change, merge, and migration projects across multi-site healthcare systems.
- Hands-on experience with integration engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Ensemble, or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of HL7, DICOM, FHIR, RESTful APIs, and related interoperability standards.
- Experience in data migration, validation, and reconciliation for imaging and clinical workflows.
- Solid understanding of network, storage, and security infrastructure in clinical environments.
- Proven track record supporting large-scale integration programs with multiple stakeholders and complex dependencies.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities for effective cross-functional engagement.
- Relevant certifications in integration platforms or healthcare interoperability standards are preferred.
