Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Technical GIS Release Manager / Deployment Coordinator to lead and manage all aspects of release management and software deployments for our GIS technical team. This role will serve as the central point of coordination across cross-functional teams to ensure timely, efficient, and well-communicated delivery of updates, new features, patches, and full deployments within a complex enterprise GIS environment.
Rate: $70 - $80 / hr. w2

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, or a related technical field.
PMP or Agile certification is a plus.

This role will serve as the central point of coordination across cross-functional teams to ensure timely, efficient, and well-communicated delivery of updates, new features, patches, and full deployments within a complex enterprise GIS environment.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the release and deployment lifecycle for GIS applications, tools, and systems.
- Collaborate closely with GIS developers, QA, infrastructure, business analysts, and stakeholders to align release activities with project and business timelines.
- Create and manage detailed release and deployment schedules, ensuring dependencies, risks, and potential conflicts are identified and addressed.
- Act as the primary point of communication for all release-related updates, including release notes, status updates, issue resolution, and post-deployment summaries.
- Orchestrate feature, patch, and major release deployments across development, staging, and production environments.
- Ensure all releases meet organizational standards for quality, compliance, and performance.
- Maintain documentation of release plans, deployment instructions, and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate post-deployment reviews and retrospective sessions to continuously improve the release process.
- Partner with the GIS Technical Lead and Project Managers to ensure change control and configuration management policies are followed.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience coordinating and managing technical deployments for GIS software
- Strong understanding of ESRI products (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or DevOps environments
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD tools, and enterprise change management processes
- Understanding of ITIL or other service management frameworks is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in IT Release Management or Software Deployment roles, preferably within a GIS or utility environment.
- Proven ability to coordinate across multiple teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience with ESRI Utility Network or ArcFM is preferred.
- Familiarity with Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) is a plus.
- Experience supporting enterprise GIS systems in utility or energy sectors is advantageous.
