Job: Sr. Data Analyst - Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery
Location: Houston, TX 77002
Term: 6 month - C2H
Interview Process: 1 hour IV virtual
Hours: Regular 40 hours
Remote: Hybrid | 3 days onsite (M, T, W)
Must be able to covert to FTE without sponsorship
TOP SKILLS:
- Project management experience able to manage projects without help
- SQL scripts, big query, build reports in tableau - create & publish - understand the calculations
- Power BI/ Tableau 50/50
- Communication with stakeholders - telling them what to do, give them insights, translate data into insights, provide solutions.
Project:
Utility experience. Lots of Tableau & power BI reporting/dashboards (50/50) Customer team and Finance team works on Tableau & other team in HR uses power BI. Some PM experience (Handles his/her projects with no hand holding). Google Cloud Platform cloud experience - Preferably they will extract data, using data modeling and need understand reporting, tableau, PowerBI, gathering requirements migrating from SAP S4 Hanna to GPC. Needs a data expert in this role (ETL).
Project Environment:
Google BigQuery, SAP HANA, ETL, SharePoint, Tableau, Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Google Cloud Platform IAM, Excel, SQL, Google Cloud Platform Cloud Scheduler
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data analyst teams to gather reporting requirements from departments across finance, operations, and compliance.
- Leverage Google BigQuery to write optimized SQL queries using CTEs, subqueries, and window functions for dynamic data extraction and transformation.
- Build and publish advanced dashboards in Tableau Server and Power BI Service, integrating calculated fields, KPIs, and dynamic filters to support executive decision-making.
- Connect and blend data from SAP HANA, SharePoint, and Excel Sheets within Tableau and Power BI for seamless analysis across systems.
- Create custom DAX measures and Power Query transformations to enhance visual clarity and usability of Power BI dashboards.
- Lead the design and development of a Financial Credit and Collections Dashboard, incorporating multiple data sources and business rules, streamlining insights for senior leadership.
- Design reusable BigQuery SQL views to consolidate financial KPIs and enable consistent reporting across sub-reports and business units.
- Utilize Tableau Data Extracts (TDEs) and live connections to handle large datasets and reduce report load times.
- Deliver intuitive, stakeholder-facing visualizations and ad hoc reports, ensuring data accuracy and storytelling alignment.
- Participate in agile sprint ceremonies and cross-functional meetings to translate business logic into efficient reporting artifacts.
- Collaborate with IT and governance teams to ensure data source certifications, access control via Tableau/Power BI, and metadata integrity.
- Integrate GIS spatial datasets into analytical workflows to analyze the geographic distribution of service work orders and outage events.
- Built interactive Tableau dashboards with map layers, tooltips, and filters to help teams identify high-frequency issue areas and optimize technician deployment.
Education:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Strong proficiency in Data visualization software like PowerBI, Tableau, and Looker.
- Strong proficiency in Cloud Computing Platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Azure, and AWS.
- Experience with Data Warehousing technology like Oracle Databases, SAP HANA, Google BigQuery
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Strong in programming languages such as Python and R for data analysis and scripting.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and experience with data modeling tools.
- Experience working with machine learning, statistical techniques and algorithms
- Proficiency in ETL processes, data warehousing, and database management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
