Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be part of a highly collaborative team with a mix of Income Tax, Sales & Use, and Property Tax professionals who take pride in their contributions to the Company's success. A day in the life of this Analyst/Developer will be providing assistance with special tax-related projects, which may include, but will not be limited to, billing and tax system integrations and project management, identifying and exploring indirect tax opportunities and issues related to business expansion, ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place, automating current department manual tasks using existing financial or tax systems and other emerging technologies, and developing complex tax reporting to meet department's tax compliance needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical knowledge in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise tax systems
  • Analyze, implement, and validate monthly tax engine rate, rule, and jurisdiction updates
  • Identifies and recommends process and system improvements; participates in implementing efficiencies through Indirect Tax group
  • Perform critical analysis of tax system test results and deliver solutions to problem areas
  • Configure and test taxability overrides in tax engine and coordinate with IT to ensure changes are operating as expected
  • Work with team members of various business units to reduce the impact of indirect taxes on proposed transactions
  • Communicate tax system changes to impacted groups within the tax department as well as internal stakeholders
  • Minimize company tax liabilities by staying abreast of reporting changes and by analyzing existing methods for calculating taxes
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects related to indirect tax

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education:
  • BS Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or Computer Science Related Field, 1+ years of experience within Sales/Use Tax; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Sales and Use tax, Telecommunications tax, business licenses/gross receipts tax, and related reporting to tax authorities
  • Experience testing application releases, version upgrades, etc. and documenting results
  • Proficient understanding of Alteryx and/or SQL, Python, Oracle, other scripting/big data languages
  • Experience with Vertex tax engine software including North America Sales Tax O Series, Vertex Communications Tax L Series, and Vertex Communications Tax Q Series is a plus
  • Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Capability to effectively prioritize and execute in a high pressure, dynamic environment

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
