Job Description

The CVS (Connected Vehicle Services) PVT Engineer (Plant Vehicle Team) position is located at Kansas City Assembly Plant (KCAP) and has responsibility for the F150 vehicle line (P702). At a high level, the CVS PVT engineer is responsible for leading quality improvements on CVS owned systems, primarily software and hardware associated with V16 Driver Assist Technology, and V29 Check Engine Light.

What you will do:
  • Prioritize and drive interim containment actions (ICA) and permanent corrective actions (PCA) to address customer quality concerns from various sources (i.e., Warranty, Executive Escalations, Social Media Feedback, and Technical Hotline)
  • Take a central role in resolving customer issues and reducing warranty:
    • Take ownership of customer critical issues and ensure resolution is achieved.
    • Warranty claims analysis (i.e., reading claims, contact dealerships/utilize connected vehicle data for further technical claim details, confirm parts return/analysis)
    • Bin claims into proper binning categories and track improvement actions through the BSAQ system.
    • Develop/Manage/Own balance single agenda for quality (BSAQ) projects to deliver the Vehicle Line's and functional objectives (R/1000(repairs per 1000) and CPU (cost per unit).
    • Communicate any help needed to contain issues through the vehicle functional group (VFG) quality quarterbacks and functional quality reviews (FQR)
    • Utilize external and internal quality data to develop ICA/PCA actions for in-plant quality concerns and external warranty claims.
  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for sub-system components to address supplier quality concerns.
  • Identify and deliver current model design projects with support from core or VFG leaders.
  • Initiate/support Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) Concerns (CR) and alerts for design changes and handle through the change control process.
  • Keep a clear communication channel on daily work/activities with Direct Supervisor/Peers, while maintaining resilience to balance among daily/weekly new demands.
  • Communication with sister plants in Dearborn (Dearborn Truck Plant and Rouge Electric Vehicle Center) for common issue identification/containment.
  • Lead plant trials for quality, cost, and supplier improvements.
  • Support plant in resolving stop ships/builds, campaigns, quality issues, ergo issues, & first time through (FTT)issues.
  • Support Functional Quality Reviews, weekly VRT report outs, and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews.
  • Support Launch on Major and Minor programs.
  • Utilize Diagnostic Engineering Tool (DET) and Ford Diagnosis and Service (FDRS)tool to assist vehicle triage

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, (Electrical Engineering degree preferred)
  • Must be available to work onsite at the Ford Assembly Plant (Mon-Fri)
  • 2+ years of previous experience as product/quality engineer, preferably in electrical/software, with a knowledge of quality containment and corrective actions
  • Successful completion of green belt training and/or black belt certification
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
