Title: Senior Software Quality Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Albany, NY

Terms of Employment

W2 Contract, 6 Months (Possible Conversion)

This is a Hybrid Schedule at Albany, NY (90% remote and 10% onsite with possible travel to client location

Shift Schedule: 8 AM-5 PM EST

Overview

The role of the Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer is to develop and execute test cases independently of supervision and to provide technical and domain knowledge to peers. This role involves using established guidelines to execute test cases and analyze root cause defects.

Exempt-level professionals and supervisors. The contractor is recognized as a specialist or subject-matter expertor or serves as a 1st-line supervisor. Uses a considerable amount of independent judgment and discretion to manage day-to-day responsibilities. The role is 70% Manual and 30% automation

Responsibilities

Develop test plans for small to medium projects with focus on quality and efficiency.

Follow general guidelines established in the test plan and receive minimal instruction and assignments from leadership.

Develop and modify test plans and adapts to changing project circumstances.

Document and execute test cases from approved test plan, project requirements and design.

Develop Software Quality Assurance automation scripts aligned with test plan.

Perform Software Quality Assurance (including but not limited to graphical user interface(GUI), back-end, interface, batch, regression, automation execution performance (Software Quality Assurance) and record results following established project standards for Software Quality Assurance, defect management, and test deliverables.

Develop defect root cause analysis and verify defect fixes.

Create and review test data to support planned tests.

Update the Requirements Traceability Matrix

Interact with other functional teams.

Provide Software Quality Assurance status updates to leadership.

Develop and provide input to test planning activities.

Develop test plans and other test documentation as related to specialty area.

Proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to leadership and assist in developing solutions. Assist in providing technical and functional knowledge to junior staff members and mentor junior staff members.

Demonstrate domain expertise and present test scenarios to clients.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodologies, best practices, and procedures; and apply them to projects to ensure that test objectives are achieved.

Demonstrate advanced business knowledge in one or more domains.

Possess unwavering commitment to customer service and operational excellence in providing customer support.

Keeps abreast of new technology and market developments.

Request and provide both negative and positive feedback.

Provide technical and test guidance to designated Software Quality Assurance team members.

Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor s Degree or Master s Degree with 7-11 years of Software Quality Assurance experience (Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field)

Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and Software Quality Assurance lifecycle (STLC)

Moderate back-end Software Quality Assurance experience

Experience with fundamentals of programming

Understanding of SharePoint applications, Webex, Skype, etc.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, with a working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of applications

Knowledge of defect management tools (such as Jira)

Knowledge and moderate understanding of Unix commands

Knowledge of database tools (such as Oracle, SQL Server, TOAD)

Strong SQL skills

Domain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare verticals

Ability to work well in teams.

Highly organized with analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to adapt to task and project changes.

Ability to handle multiple projects with varying priorities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Understanding of the SDLC and STLC.

Experience Software Quality Assurance multi-tiered applications or transaction processing systems.

Preferred Skills & Experience

In-depth experience in automation Software Quality Assurance and standards.

Moderate to high knowledge of Selenium or other automation tools.

Mid-level expert in performance Software Quality Assurance tools
