Leidos is actively seeking a passionate, detailed-oriented problem-solver to serve as a Lead Systems Engineer in support of the Hypersonics Division. As a Hypersonics Lead System Engineer, you will lead a team of system engineers in tasks related to the development of overall systems including software and hardware development, test, and integration for the technical aspects of Hypersonic initiatives including, but not limited to, glide bodies, missiles, and cruisers. The successful candidate will leverage classical system engineering, digital engineering and systems engineering practices and tools, including CAMEO, to identify challenges and formulate candidate solutions within complex, highly interdependent systems and programs. The systems engineer will lead and coordinate the system engineering for prototype development and as-build configurations. This includes definition and application of Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) defined processes including requirements definition, requirements updates, change requests, verification planning and execution, and acceptance testing. The Lead Systems Engineer will ensure that the systems engineering standard processes and best practices to workflow efficiently. Duties in all Systems Engineering disciplines to include system design, requirements definition, risks, allocation, maintenance, verification/validation, system integration, systems analysis, and test. Primary Responsibilities.
- Manage System requirement application and updates from Task Order, Specifications and Test Plans
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of overall system interdependencies and interfaces
- Experience with system level requirements and interface requirement development
- Experience with subsystem/system integration and test validation closure methods.
- Support verification and traceability of deliverables back to System Requirements
- Assist in development of verification plans and process improvements
- Facilitate configuration management of the technical data package
- Implement creative solutions to ensure program requirements are upheld
- Identify, mitigate and resolve risks/issues/opportunities
- Coordinating systems engineering with the customer
- Experience with software requirements and test procedures/analysis/verification methods
- Derive requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems
- DOORS and/or other requirements database tools
- MagicDraw/Rhapsody/Cameo and/or other Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools
- Experience in MBSE implementation and execution
- Have organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information
- Perform other related job duties as required
Basic Qualifications.
- A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university. Candidate should have 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Individual must be a self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven significant experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems.
- Strong technical background in large integrated products.
- Strong background working directly with customer and suppliers to define and track engineering requirements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications.
- Prior work in DoD Missile, Reentry Vehicle, or Hypersonics fields.
- A detailed understanding of the top-down systems engineering process for architecture development and bottoms-up verification.
- Thorough understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods.
- Experience with Function Flow and/or N-Squared Analysis.
- Ability to stay focused and succeed in dynamic and fast paced environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information.
- Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of Hypersonic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with the customer to clarify program challenges and/or system requirements.
- Demonstrated solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of complex physical systems.
- Experience applying systems engineering practices to support hypersonic programs with unique developmental constraints.
