Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Unisys OS 2200 COBOL Developer to support complex mainframe development, integration, and production operations for the New York State Office of Information Technology Services (NYS OITS). This is a fully remote, senior-level position requiring deep expertise in Unisys 2200 mainframe technologies, system-to-system integrations, and COBOL development.

The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently, leading technical efforts, diagnosing production issues, and guiding best practices in a mission-critical mainframe environment. This role involves extensive hands-on development, system analysis, documentation, and collaboration with third-party vendors using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications on Unisys 2200 / ClearPath mainframes.

  • Perform system-to-system integrations with third-party vendors using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

  • Execute system analysis, program development, unit testing, and integrated testing for mainframe applications.

  • Monitor daily production workloads and address system issues efficiently and accurately.

  • Conduct diagnostic and debugging activities within a mainframe production environment.

  • Utilize Unisys ECL, TIP, and DMS 2200/RDMS to support application functionality and system stability.

  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for system design, programming, testing, and deployment processes.

  • Provide technical expertise and support as a senior resource, offering guidance to team members when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 36+ months experience performing system-to-system integration using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

  • 60+ months experience with COBOL 74/85 development on Unisys 2200 or ClearPath mainframes, including analysis, design, testing, and production monitoring.

  • 48+ months hands-on experience with Unisys ECL, TIP, and DMS 2200/RDMS.

  • 48+ months experience performing production monitoring, error diagnostics, and debugging in a mainframe environment.

  • 36+ months experience creating and maintaining documentation for mainframe design, programming, and testing processes.

  • Ability to work independently in a senior capacity and provide guidance to team members.
