Fort Wayne, IN | Sr. Systems and Security Administrator | Full-time

 

We are actively recruiting a Sr. Systems and Security Administrator for our client in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a hybrid direct hire opportunity that will require being on-site in Fort Wayne. The Sr Systems and Security Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, networks, and servers. Additionally, this role will manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. Responsibilities will include installing and supporting hardware and software and participating in continuous improvement of our environments and keeping pace with the technology needs of the company. The Sr. Systems and Security Administrator will participate in the planning and implementation of infrastructure, operating systems, security and other related policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. The role will report to the Director of Infrastructure, Operations, and Security (once filled, and to the IT Director, Sales & Operations in the interim)

Job Responsibilities

Infrastructure capacity planning

Hardware and equipment currency

Ensure compatibility of all software applications with IT Infrastructure.

Backup and recovery plan for all company data.

Maintain all software applications and support issues as needed.

Ensure all users can access systems when needed.

Review cybersecurity trends to provide preventative security measures.

Ensure all systems are configured with proper roles and responsibilities.

Ensure network, identity management, and hardware components are maintained.

Maintain performance, efficiency, and integrity of database.

Train users and provide written documentation as needed.

Monitor Help Desk tickets and address as needed.

Backup IT Support Technician as needed.

Backup Software Developer as needed.

Other technical duties as assigned.

Network engineering and DBA coordination for desktop and server system implementation

Workstation, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems and host security systems deployment

Operating system and end user related software management

Communications and connection solutions management, including workstation connectivity, LAN, website, intranet, and internet applications

Ensure security and integrity of enterprise data on host computers, databases, and during transfer according to business needs and security standards

Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations

Perform network and security audits

Perform and test routine system backups and restores

Incident management and incident response plan ownership; Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.

Network asset management; maintenance of network component inventory and documentation including technical specifications information

Support of application development and project SDLC stages

Monitor and analyze system, server, application, network, and input/out device performance

Schedule and manage software and hardware upgrades, patches, reconfigs, and/or purchases

Negotiate with vendors, outsources, contractors, etc. to secure optimal services

Develop and maintain policies, procedures, training plans for system administration

Support NOC, SOC, SEIM as needed; and administer security policies and governance

Guide and coach junior members of the team

 

Qualifications

Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery methodologies.

Experience with D365 F&O and other operating systems a plus.

Software development experience a plus.

Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users.

Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.

Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent attention to detail.

Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact, and resourcefulness.

Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Experience

Bachelor s Degree in information technology, Computer Science, or relevant field.

Minimum of 5+ years experience as a Sr. System Administrator or relevant position.

Minimum of 3+ years experience in infrastructure, network, and other areas of cyber security

Experience with databases, networks, and patch management.

Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems

Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, Active Directory, etc.

Strong knowledge of local area network, as well as WAN and SD-WAN administration.

Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.

Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.

Good understanding of the organization s goals and objectives.

Knowledge of applicable security regulations and data privacy practices and laws.
