DB2 DBA with public sector Experience

Location: Harrisburg, PA

Duration: 12+ months

In person interview needed. Onsite from day 1 / Hybrid

Responsibilities

Design and maintain DB2 Database applications which have the following characteristics:

  • Design for high availability.
  • Design for maximum performance.
  • Maintain and develop techniques and procedures to provide 24x7 availability.
  • Provide production and test database support in a complex environment.
  • Perform all functions which are performed by a DB2 Database Administrator, such as SQL code reviews.
  • Performance Monitoring and Tuning DB2 at the application database level.
  • Enforce appropriate DB2 security standards.
  • Collaborate with the DB2 systems programming staff to appropriately manage DSNZPARM settings.
  • Create, manage and support DB2 Stored Procedures, DB2 Triggers, and DB2 Referential Integrity.
  • Create Change Requests, Resolve Service Requests, Provide 24x7 On call support.
  • Provide DB2 Connect configuration access support for individual users and distributed systems.
  • Coordinate with team members on technical decisions and directions.
  • Work with Management to develop project schedules.
  • Provide Database performance and tuning which typically involves collaboration between Data Center, Technical Operations, Database Design and Administration, and the various software development areas.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and creation of appropriate backup and recovery strategies for new database requirements.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning.

Skills Needed

10+ years DB2 experience Required 10 Years

Excellent knowledge of DB2 z/OS Database Support, including but not limited to the following- Required 10 Years

z/OS DB2 12 for zOS or higher in a production environment with high transaction rates Required 10 Years

High availability 24x7 designs and techniques Required 10 Years

Managing large data stores Required 10 Years

DB2 V10 utilities setup and execution Required 10 Years

DB2 performance and tuning Required 10 Years

Data Modeling expertise logical and physical design Required 10 Years

Complex SQL coding / tuning Required 10 Years

Data Warehouse design with an understanding of OLAP design and query solutions Required 10 Years

DB2 attachments/interfaces include DRDA, DB2 Connect Required 10 Years

DB2 tools skill set will include, but not limited to the following: QMF & IBM (Data Studio, OPTIM Workload Query Tuner, File Manager, Tivoli OMEGAMON) Required 10 Years

DB2 tools skill set will include, but not limited to the following: IBM DB2 (Administration Tool, Automation Tool, Explain, Query Monitor) Required 10 Years

z/OS Mainframe skills, but not limited to the following: TSO & ISPF, JCL, DFSORT &/or ICETOOL, REXX, z/OS Utilities Required 10 Years

Problem solving and analytical skills Desired

Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and projects Desired

Excellent written and oral communication skills Desired

DB2 V9 or V10 Certification preferred Desired

IMS Database experience Desired
