About the Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Uber, you will lead, mentor, and manage high-performing software engineering teams responsible for the full lifecycle of mission-critical systems within our global Road Safety & Insurance Engineering organization. This role demands ability to set strategic technical direction, hands-on leadership, and a relentless focus on delivering scalable and reliable solutions that support Uber's complex insurance needs across billions of dollars in annual claims.
You'll empower your teams to apply the principles of software engineering and reliability to solve deeply complex system challenges, while managing organizational expectations and making thoughtful tradeoffs in ambiguous environments. Your influence will extend across multiple disciplines, including Product, Data Science, Actuarial, and Legal, to deliver next-generation InsureTech products that have a direct impact on our customers' safety and Uber's bottom line.
You will set and communicate clear goals and metrics, ensure effective execution through actionable planning and structured delegation, and foster a culture of technical excellence and trust across teams. This includes hiring, performance management, and career development for both individual contributors and engineering managers under your leadership.
The systems you and your teams build will leverage cutting-edge technologies, ranging from graph databases and GenAI-powered workflows to telematics and dashcam video analysis, to enable real-time crash detection, claims automation, and seamless integration with external insurance carriers. Your leadership will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of Road safety and InsureTech innovation and delivering transformative solutions that elevate operational efficiency and user experience at global scale.
