Job Details
We're looking for a hands-on engineering leader — someone who can own strategy while staying deep in the tech, building alongside the team.. You’ll step into a high-impact Engineering Manager – AI & Automation role leading a multidisciplinary team driving AI, automation, and data lakehouse projects.
This is a chance to shape how infrastructure, cloud strategy, and automation scale across a complex backend environment — all while working closely with top-tier engineers, developers, and leadership.
Location: Onsite – The Woodlands, TX
Type: Contract-to-Hire (12 months to perm)

What You’ll Do
- Lead a small team engineers and specialists across data engineering, application development, and AI platform support
- Oversee and enhance cloud environments (AWS & Azure) for data-centric operations
- Architect, build, and manage CI/CD pipelines for both traditional apps and ML workflows
- Implement infrastructure-as-code with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates
- Guide complex technical initiatives, from data lakehouse development to CX automation bots
- Act as the technical voice in the room – whether it's with execs or engineers
- Promote DevOps best practices around monitoring, observability, performance, and incident response
- Champion team development, mentorship, and hands-on collaboration
Qualifications
- 7+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or data infrastructure roles
- 3+ years in a team leadership or managerial capacity
- Experience with Databricks, ML Ops, or real-time data streaming
- Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, data pipelines, and complex backend systems
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, Redshift, Glue) and Azure
- Skilled in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern cloud architectures
- Excels in fast-paced environments, managing multiple large initiatives at once
- Comfortable being visibly present onsite and working closely with all levels of staff
Nice to Have
- AWS or Azure DevOps certifications
- Background with security and compliance standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR)
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira
