Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead the modernization of our test automation strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both automated and manual testing within Agile environments and be proficient in modern tools and languages such as Playwright and TypeScript. This role will focus on building scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks across UI and API layers, as well as supporting manual testing for areas not yet automated. The SDET will work closely with Agile feature teams to ensure faster, higher-quality releases through CI/CD integration and a shift-left testing approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Agile teams to define acceptance criteria, participate in design discussions, and foster a test-first culture.
  • Build and maintain test automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript preferred) or similar tools for UI and API testing.
  • Lead the migration from legacy frameworks (e.g., Selenium + Java, Postman/Newman) to modern, unified automation platforms.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure rapid, reliable test execution with actionable feedback.
  • Support manual testing activities, including test case design, exploratory testing, and validation of non-automated features.
  • Develop and execute automated tests for REST/SOAP APIs and full end-to-end scenarios.
  • Participate in code reviews and help define scalable test architecture and design standards.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries for data validation and test data management.
  • Champion quality engineering best practices and mentor peers on automation and QA strategies.
  • Ensure traceability across requirements, test cases, and defects to support compliance with enterprise standards, including HIPAA, security, and audit requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Playwright (TypeScript preferred), or similar tools like Cypress or Puppeteer.
  • Experience migrating from Selenium + Java and Postman to modern test frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of test integration with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with quality reporting tools, test dashboards, and test metrics.
  • Experience with test case management tools (e.g., qTest, TestRail) and managing requirement traceability.
