The Materials Engineer will be responsible for performing a wide range of materials engineering tasks to support manufacturing operations at the El Paso facility. This position supports both production and non-production processes and requires application of fundamental scientific principles as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and approve supplier material specifications.
  • Coordinate test programs with vendors, internal labs, and other departments.
  • Participate in cross functional teams focused on new product development and cost reduction projects.
  • Support new product introduction activities and implementation of changes in existing products or processes.
  • Analyze failure trends and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Conduct investigations and root cause analysis using problem solving tools such as 8D's, DMAIC, etc.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems utilizing formal education and judgment.
  • Plan and execute bench studies and design experiments.
  • Communicate results effectively through presentations and written reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to assigned activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymers, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills within Windows environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required; especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with medical device industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Experience working with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Experience with Minitab Statistical Software.
  • Project management skills desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
