About the Role:

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for an exciting direct-hire opportunity in Springfield, VA. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and wants to work on mission-critical systems supporting national security. The ideal candidate is collaborative, experienced with cloud-native tools, and confident in handling complex deployment pipelines and production infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar tools

  • Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure scalability, reliability, and high availability

  • Collaborate with developers and system administrators to improve release workflows and deployment strategies

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

  • Troubleshoot issues across development, testing, and production environments

  • Ensure systems meet security compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, PlatformOne)

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or TeamCity

  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Helm, or Terraform

  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go

  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, ArgoCD

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP)

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Average job tenure of 3 4 years in previous roles (no jumpy resumes)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coding in C# is a plus

  • Exposure to tools like AWS CDK, ArgoCD, or PlatformOne

  • Prior experience in a government or defense contracting environment
